Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Black Site Coffee a dropshipping site?
No. We operate a roast-to-order partnership with a specialty contract roaster. Every origin lot is vetted by Black Site, every roast profile is specified by Black Site, every bag is packaged with Black Site branding, and every order ships within 24 hours of roasting. This is the standard model used by most growing specialty coffee brands before in-house roasting capacity is built. Dropshipping is when a brand has no relationship to the product, no quality control, and no roast specifications. That is not us.

Q: Where is Black Site Coffee roasted?
Roasting is currently handled by Temecula Coffee Roasters (TCR), a specialty contract roaster in California. Every order is roasted to order and shipped within 24 hours. Black Site Coffee Co. is based in Tennessee. In-house roasting under the Black Site name is on the long-term roadmap.

Q: How fresh is the coffee?
Every bag is roasted to order with origin-select beans within 24 hours of your order being placed and shipped immediately once completed (or next business day). FUN FACT ~ most coffee on grocery and chain shelves is two to six months past its roast date by the time you brew it. Our model removes that gap.

Q: Where does the coffee come from?
We source single-origin coffees from 14+ countries: Bali, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Sumatra, Tanzania, Uganda, and others. Every origin is traceable to its specific supplier, region, and processing method.

Q: Will Black Site ever roast in-house?
Yes. In-house roasting under the Black Site name is on the roadmap. Building a specialty roastery is a significant capital project ~ commercial roaster, green coffee storage, cupping lab, ventilation systems, certifications, distribution infrastructure. We are scaling, but it takes time.

Q: Whole bean or ground?
Each coffee is offered in whole bean or ground drip in 12oz bags. Coarse grind is available upon request.

Q: What about decaf?
Our decaf is processed using the Swiss Water Method ~ a chemical-free, water-based decaffeination process that removes 99.9% of caffeine while preserving the bean's origin character. No methylene chloride, no ethyl acetate, no shortcuts.

Q: Do you offer subscriptions?
Yes. Monthly or bi-weekly recurring orders, with the option to pause, skip, or cancel at any time. Subscribers receive a standing discount and early access to new releases and limited single-origin lots.

Q: Do you offer wholesale or bulk pricing?
Yes. We supply unit coffee bars, contractor break rooms, agency offices, veteran-owned businesses, and small retail accounts. Minimum order is 5 lbs. Email us for pricing tiers and current lead times.

Q: How long does shipping take?
Orders are roasted to order. Beans go on the roaster within 24 hours of your order, and the finished product ships within 24 hours of roasting via USPS.

Q: What's your return policy?
We do not accept returns. Coffee is a perishable food product and cannot be restocked once shipped. If your order arrives damaged in transit, contact us with your order number and photos of the damage.

Q: Who runs Black Site Coffee?
Black Site Coffee Co. is founder-operated by a disabled U.S. Army veteran, retired Counterintelligence Special Agent, All-Source Analyst, and Cavalry Scout based near Lynchburg, Tennessee. The brand is family-operated.
